For most of my life, I have battled with comparison. I use to compare myself to other women often by wishing my skin was lighter and my clothes were fancier. I would beat myself up because my complexion was hideous and my wardrobe wasn’t stylish. I could find a flaw in just about anything.
But one day, something happened. I stumbled across this thing called GRATITUDE.
Gratitude is the act of being thankful and appreciative. I started pausing and noticing things that I can be thankful for.

I became grateful for my complexion because it reduces my likelihood of getting skin cancer. I became grateful for the money I don’t waste on the latest fashion because I can provide my son with the things he needs and wants.
Instead of comparing, I found gratitude and joy in the things that make me Ashley N. Barnes. Because honey, I am wonderfully and marvelously made! Instead of allowing negative thoughts to occupy space in my mind, I started focusing on the positive things in my life.
Each time I express appreciation, my self-confidence increases a little more.
When my mindset switched from negativity to thankfulness, I gained a more positive outlook on life. A grateful spirit led to positivity which led to greater self-confidence. This newfound confidence helped me level up and start taking bold risks.

Queen, you don’t have to walk around with your head down because you don’t feel as if you measure up to another person. You don’t have to compare yourself to anyone because no one is equal to you. Practicing gratitude is a habit that will increase your confidence. It will transform your thoughts which will make your confidence level spike. Some ways to practice gratitude are journal about the positives from your day, tell someone you love them, replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts, acknowledge someone else’s efforts, and seeing the beauty within yourself.
Appreciating your own abilities and personal features are a surefire way to increase your confidence and QueenUP.
