There are so many terms and variables to consider when entering a grocery start. From “low carb” to “fat free”, it all can be overwhelming. So I have some stables that make shopping a bit less stressful.
When I grab my shopping cart and start browsing the aisle, I’m likely to leave with these food items.
Water flushes the bad stuff out of the body and creates a feeling of fullness so I do not overeat. A glass of water before each meal always helps reduce food intake.
Wild Salmon has omega-3 fatty acids and protein. Fatty fish is beneficial for bone health as well as mental health. Wild salmon contributes to fat burning and reducing cravings. All the omega-3 fatty acids will help me get a little closer to my Serena Williams inspired body goals.
This Southern gal loves chicken! Chicken contains leucine which assists with developing lean muscle mass. I do my best to eat grilled chicken, but I won’t even pretend like I turn down fried chicken. There are times when I am able to say no to fried chicken, but honey that’s a weakness! I have fallen in love with an easy baked drumette chicken recipe that I tried, so I’m doing better.
Eggs have it all – you get protein, omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals! Eggs help prevent the storage of belly fat due to the fat-burning nutrient choline.
Apples help reduce the risk of cancer, diabetes, and high blood pressure.
Bananas are affordable and filling. They have potassium which reduces belly bloat. They also helps build lean muscle due to the magnesium.
I enjoy a warm cup of lemon water first thing in the morning. Lemons help with weight loss, works as a diuretic, and the vitamin C reduces skin blemishes. I sip it before eating breakfast, and it certainly awakes my digestive system.
Walnuts help keep the heart healthy and lowers cholesterol.
White tea is said to help breakdown fat and block new fat cells from forming.
White Cheddar Popcorn
What about the snacks, huh?!? Well, my favorite “healthy” item at the grocery store is white cheddar popcorn. The snack size bags are always in my purse as I head out the door each morning. White cheddar popcorn is a delicious low calorie snack! I love this tasty treat, plus it’s only 100 calories per bag!
